Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT)

What is it?

The 8 week 9 session Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) is a powerful therapeutic approach that blends the principles of cognitive therapy with mindfulness practices. Developed by Zindel Segal, Mark Williams, and John Teasdale, MBCT is designed to help individuals break the cycle of recurrent depression by learning to recognize and disengage from the negative thought patterns that can trigger a depressive episode. Group participants attend 2 and 1/2 hour sessions once a week for 8 weeks with a full-day (7 hours) class between the sixth and seventh sessions.

Over the course of 8 weeks, participants will gain practical skills and knowledge to help them live more mindfully and manage their mental health more effectively. Each session includes guided mindfulness practices, cognitive therapy exercises, and group discussions.
